soli·tude

[ˈsɒlɪtjuːd]

noun

1.     the state or situation of being alone:

but is it the situation of being alone?

In this aloneness, there is a space, the space that helps you connect with yourself, with your thoughts and may be show up more for the world.

I have been a loner all my life. As a 5-year-old, I would spend hours sitting by the window on a mountain of cushions, looking outside the window and talking to myself.

My parents would coax me, push me to go outside and play with other kids. That’s what the ‘normal’ kids do.

Despite being such a loner I had few friends; my friendships were always one-one. I never had a gang of girls or gang of friends. It was always me sitting opposite to a singular human being , talking about life, playing or goofing around but never a gang.

Solitude is also a friend I sit with.

There is a certain power and independence in spending time with yourself. I Solitude is not lonely, its aloneness that we all need from time to time.

In that aloneness, we can connect and build relationship with our heartbeat, our body sensations and feelings.

So when we go back to the our relationships, connections and roles we play in the worldly world we are little more connected to ourself and little more grounded and we show up with compassion and care
