If Wishes were Horses

Or May be,

Wishes are horses

If wishes were horses and the pigs will fly, I would hear this and chuckle, my limited understanding of the English language would make me take this phrase literally but come to think of it, why do we say this? It implies what we wish for, are impossible for us to get.

But we get exactly what we wish for. Every single time.

 The irony is, we are not even aware of our own hidden wishes, worry and fears are also wishes that we silently make

And at times, when are wishes would come true, they

come knocking at our door, we get too busy worrying and lamenting about the next wish.

I had this moment of epiphany right in the middle of soaking in the experience of my wish coming true.

It was 2019, I was in Mumbai, sitting by the marine drive… watching the rain come down and saying hello to the majestic waves of the Arabian sea and suddenly it hit me, oh mi god! This is exactly I wished for as a 16-year-old, watching the rain come down from the necklace road, Marine Drive of Mumbai. I had dreamt of this and wished for it for years. pretty random and relatively tiny wish but wish it was!!

 Over the years, I have realized, several of my wishes came true, being independent, staying in a aesthetically decorated house in a big city.. I had this pamphlet of a computer institute, the front page had a very impactful picture of a young girl wearing really cool glasses and crisp corporate clothes, pencil skirt, high heels and a blazer, she had a file in her hand, looking busy.

I would look at it and dream of dressing up like that to work, I also dreamt of buying handloom sarees and wear them to work

As I grew up, the dreams started fading away and I got busy with chasing career, love etc. but then, if I look at my present self, I dress exactly like that girl in the pamphlet, and I also wear handloom sarees to work, so yes! Dreams come true, only if we take a moment to savour the present and realize universe has worked in our favor to give us everything we want.. everything, including that which may not be positive.

But we also have some deep hidden wishes that are seated in our subconscious, and they may not be pretty at all, some self-sabotaging dark stuff but we are driven by our conditioning, traumas and self-preserving patterns of past, those are the ones we need to beware of or let's just say, we need to be aware of. Perhaps this is a big milestone in the Journey of self-awareness

PS : I also wished to wear a Swedish watch; I am not even sure if Sweden is known for watches but that was my dream. Here in the picture, I am wearing a Daniel Wellington Watch, I have been wearing this watch for couple of years now, and recently got to know that it a Swedish brand. there you go 😊, Wishes are horses
